Two years after its debut in Virginia Beach, Something in the Water (SITW) has a new venue – Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. Yes! This year, recording artist/producer Pharrell brings the festival to the capital’s famous streets.
After the first edition of Something in the Water in 2019, the pandemic led to cancellations in 2020 and 2021. Meanwhile, citing police misconduct in Virginia Beach, the organizers decided to shift the next editions of the event to Washington, D.C. Pharrell called out the conduct of Virginia Beach city officials and police in the case of his cousin Donovan Lynch’s death.
What is Something in the Water Washington, D.C 2022?
Something in the Water focuses on fighting systematic issues and empowering historically marginalized communities by promoting educational, business, and employment opportunities. In addition, the three-day event, helmed by renowned musician Pharrell Williams, celebrates diversity through music, art, and culture. The 2019 edition had some of the biggest names in music – Jay-Z, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Missy Elliott, and more – joining Pharrell and Phriends in successfully amplifying the festival’s message.
Produced by Live Nation and Redrock Entertainment, Something in the Water returns in 2022 with the same message at a new venue. Apart from the impressive lineup of international artists, community-centered events will also be held during the festival this year. The Pop-Up Church Service on Sunday will also return to this year’s event.
When is Something in the Water 2022?
Something in the Water Washington, D.C 2022 is on the Juneteenth Weekend – June 17 – 19. The event’s three stages will be set up on Independence Avenue and adjacent streets.

Who is performing at SITW 2022?
Pharrell Williams is headlining the festival with the ensemble act – Pharrell & Phriends. Other notable names on the Something in the Water 2022 lineup include Calvin Harris, Jon Batiste, Lil Baby, Ozuna, Roddy Ricch, Usher, Lil Uzi Vert, Davido, Baby Tate, Chloe x Halle, Ashanti & Ja Rule, and Tyler, The Creator. The three-day event also features Go-Go musicians Rare Essence, Backyard Band, and Sound of the City.

How much do SITW 2022 tickets cost?
Something in the Water 2022 tickets has tiered pricing starting at $299. Currently, 3-Day GA passes are available for $300 – this is the tier 3 price. The next two tiers will cost you $450 and $499. An additional fee of $50 is applicable for all tiers. Except for the rates, there are no other differences between ticket tiers.
Something in the Water Washington, D.C 2022 is General Admission only; there are no VIP packages for this festival. Single-day passes are also not available – the three-day GA pass gets you one wristband that can be used for entry throughout the weekend. Children under 5 enter for free when accompanying a paid adult.
Entry passes for the canceled 2020 edition have been refunded and cannot be rolled over for Something in the Water 2022.
How to reach Something in the Water 2022 festival?
A direct shuttle from Virginia Beach, VA, to Washington, D.C, is available. One-way trip tickets cost $50 per person, and the round-trip rates are $95 per person.
As the venue is centrally located and close to popular attractions, finding your way to Independence Avenue isn’t challenging. You can use public transportation, taxis/ride-sharing, or your own car. However, the 3-Day Parking Pass is only for entry to the festival and access to GA areas, including food vendors. Parking and other add-ons are additional.
The organizers haven’t announced official parking, including ADA parking, yet – you can check the event website for updates. Plenty of alternative parking is available within walking distance of the festival venue. But as this is a busy neighborhood with several tourist attractions, you have to plan well for a guaranteed spot nearby.
