The Getaway is a pop-top camper version of the Metris van that is made by Mercedes-Benz. It has room for five people and four can sleep. Winnebago

Winnebago is a famous company in Iowa that makes recreational vehicles. Even though the company is best known for its RVs that look like buses, it also makes a wide range of camper vans based on the Ram Promaster and Mercedes Sprinter. These include the affordable pop-top Solis and the smaller Solis Pocket, as well as the off-road-ready Revel 44. On average, a Winnebago camper van costs between $100,000 and $200,000.

Other small camper van companies use Nissan or Mercedes vans, but Colorado-based Oasis Campervans turns the all-wheel-drive Toyota Sienna minivan into mobile homes on the go. The main living room in an Oasis Campervan conversion has pull-out drawers, a finished floor, and a work table that can be moved. One of the most clever parts of the design is a chair that can be folded up and turned into a backrest for the bed. When the bed is in the sleeping position, it can comfortably fit one or two people on the full-size mattress.

Glampervan, based in San Francisco, wants to take advantage of this trend by building clients a “multi-use vehicle” that can take you on vacation, work as a mobile office, and still haul things like a truck. The company uses a Ram Promaster with a 136-inch wheelbase and a high roof. The Ram Promaster is the middle-sized model in the Ram lineup.
