While this does sound like a no-brainer (July 4th, duh!), it’s understandable why this question may be asked. Independence Day 2022 in the United States is on Sunday, July 4, but the public holiday date is Monday, July 5th.
What happens if the 4th of July falls on a weekend?
The 4th of July is a federal holiday. If July 4th falls on a Saturday, the holiday is observed on Friday, July 3rd. If July 4th or Independence Day falls on a Sunday, like it is happening in 2022, it is celebrated on Monday, July 5th. Schools and government offices will be closed on Monday, July 5th this year.

2.   Nashville, Tennessee

If you’ve been missing live music over the past year, then head straight to Music City for amazing fireworks both on stage and off it! There’s no better way to celebrate Independence Day 2022 than with country music superstar Brad Paisley at the free “Let Freedom Sing!” July 4th concert in downtown Nashville. This event will include a massive outdoor music event and the largest fireworks display in the city’s history. As an added treat, the pyrotechnics will be timed to coincide with a live performance by the Grammy-winning Nashville Symphony. With this free, family-friendly festival, Music City is eager to welcome locals and tourists back to the streets of downtown Nashville as its first big post-pandemic event.
3.   Orlando, Florida

Each year for on Independence Day, The City Beautiful comes alive and brims with vibrant enthusiasm. Fireworks at the Fountain, one of the city’s most renowned events, will take place in the beautiful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown Orlando. With food and drink vendors again welcome to sell their wares, Fireworks at the Fountain promises to be a fun and family-friendly affair in 2022. Guests from all over Orlando bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy this outdoor gathering (socially distanced this year) and ring on the Fourth of July.
