How long have the Royals played at the K?

The Royals moved into Kauffman Stadium in 1973. Before that, the MLB team played at the now-demolished Municipal Stadium from 1969 to 1972. Kauffman Stadium was called the Royals Stadium till 1993. It was last renovated in 2009.

What is the Royals Stadium seating capacity?

The Kauffman Stadium can currently seat up to 37,903 fans. See the seating map for the 2022 season here.

What is the Kauffman Stadium experience like?

The K is one of the best ballparks to catch a game live – especially when Royals’ rivals, the Yankees or Cardinals, visit. Regarding fan experience, Kauffman Stadium leaves no stone unturned and keeps up with the demand for improvements. The 360-degree concourse is a major feature of the stadium. You can’t miss the LED video display either – it’s the tallest in baseball. Look out for fireworks after the Friday night games in summer.

It’s hard to ignore ‘The Water Spectacular‘ – fountains and waterfall behind the right-field fence. Get yourself to the ‘Pepsi Party Porch’ – a standing-room-only area in the fountain’s splash zone. The waterfall flows constantly, while the fountains splash before/after games and in-between innings.

As for convenience, there are 74 concession stands and 67 restrooms at the stadium – enough to ensure a smooth flow of activity. In addition, the kid’s area has child-friendly food options – available right next to the mini-golf, base run, carousel, and batting/pitching cages for the little fans. Kansas City Royals mascot – Sluggerr – is also found pitching here, while he’s not firing hot dogs into the stands or leading the fan cheers.

How to reach the Kansas City Royals ballpark?

You have limited options for public transportation. Drive or take taxis/ride-share for a hassle-free experience.

For those who prefer public transportation, KCATA Bus Route 47 has services from Country Club Plaza, downtown, midtown, and east-side neighborhoods. On weekdays and Saturdays, buses run along Blue Ridge Crossing and Blue Ridge Cutoff until 11 PM. But keep in mind that the buses do not drop you off right in front of the ballpark gates.

If you are driving down to the game, depending on where you are coming from, take I-70 or I-435. The address for Kauffman Stadium is 1 Royal Way, Kansas City, Missouri 64129. Use the map below to find your route:

How many gates are there at Kauffman Stadium?

There are seven entry gates at the Kauffman Stadium, including the Premium Entrance/Bus Exit above Lot J. Note that you cannot re-enter the stadium under normal circumstances.

Gates 1 and 3 do not allow exits. If you exit via gate 2, you can only turn into Blue Ridge Cutoff. Gate 4 and 5 exits open into Raytown Road only, while Gate 6 exits to Stadium Drive. Buses can exit through the Premium Entrance and only turn right onto Stadium Drive.

Usually, you can exit the same way you entered the Kansas City Royals parking lot. Staff will direct you out of the complex via access roads closest to that particular gate.

Where can I find Kansas City Royals parking?

Official Kansas City Royals parking is available at the Truman Complex lots around Kaufmann Stadium. Eight lots for general parking and 5 lots for reserved parking are designated for the 2022 season. In addition, Lot M between Arrowhead Stadium and the K has Premium Parking spaces.

The Truman Complex parking lots more or less meet the Kansas City Royals game-day parking demand. However, alternative parking is available at off-stadium lots nearby for those who wish to save more on parking rates and quit the rush at the on-site lots.

Parking on the streets near Kauffman Stadium is not a popular option. Unfortunately, there aren’t many game-day shuttle services either. So unless you are staying nearby, your best bet is the official Kansas City Royals parking lots or a cheaper off-site lot.
